Trumpet, a London-based B2B sales startup, has raised $6.35 million in seed funding.

Trumpet was cofounded in 2021 by CEO Rory Sadler and Nick Telson-Sillett, who sold the events and hospitality business DesignMyNight for $30 million in 2017.

The startup offers B2B sales teams "pods" or collaborative sales rooms, where they can access deal information, content, and communication.

Sadler said this would help speed up processes amid lower investment in new tools by B2B companies.

"Companies are continuing to tighten their belts because of the economic climate, and that means sales teams need to change how they fundamentally approach selling," Sadler told Business Insider in an interview.

The company's clients include OpenTable, Sky Media, and Crossbeam. It claims to have already had traction for its product in the US and is looking to expand there.

AlbionVC led the seed funding round, which also included previous investors Lightbird Ventures, Anamcara Capital, and Triple Point Ventures.

Sadler told BI that the funding environment was "tough," adding investors expected "significant traction, clear data around product market fit, and in some cases, having proof points that the grander vision wasn't just a future vision but had seeds planted already."

"The appetite is most definitely there, but the expectations of a seed company have increased quite a lot," he added.

Sadler told BI that the funding would go toward building a go-to-market team in the UK and helping the startup expand to the US, where 15% of its customers are based.

Sadler said the company will hire around 10 staff in engineering, sales, and customer service, as well as using the funding for marketing.
